Troubleshoot:Trouble using shutdown.exe through Task Scheduler Error

Trouble using shutdown.exe through Task Scheduler

All,
I'm using Windows 7 on an HP Mini (Netbook).
I'm trying to create a task to restart my machine at 02:30AM daily.
(shutdown.exe /r /p)
I've gone through both the Basic (Wizard) & Standard ways to create the task.
Each way failed to execute the shutdown, although the program did run in a CMD window - while the machine was NOT plugged in.
In the case with the Standard Create Task, I UNchecked the need to have the PC be running on AC power - still no restart.
Then, with AC power attached, all worked as expected.
What, if anything, can be done to run shutdown.exe /r /p from the task scheduler on battery power?
Thank you,
russ
