Pop up 'Microsoft upgrade to version 9'

I keep getting an underlying pop up 'Microsoft upgrade to version 9' I dont know how it got onto my computer and i dont want to upgrade, it interferes with the running and often freezes everything i do, when i close what i am doing there it is just sitting
there the dreaded 'upgrade' how do i get rid of it, i dont want it.
