Solution to Problem: Adding up cells with hours - Auto sum does not work once hours exceed 24 - Help!

Adding up cells with hours - Auto sum does not work once hours exceed 24 - Help!

I have a spreadsheet where I enter hours and I need to be able to add them up over a long period of time.  My cells are formatted for time and when I use AutoSum it adds correctly until the total would exceed 24 hours then it does something to the total.
If I just select the cells and look at the status bar the Sum function on the status bar DOES have the correct number of hours.
Here is an example - the grey cells have the Sum Function adding the cells to the left - notice that it is correct until the last row - it should say that the total number of hours is 28:49 but it gives me a total of 4:49.

Actually, the formula is calculating the correct value.
The issue is with the number formatting.
When you use h:mm, as soon as you cross 24 hours, that format starts back at zero.
Try this:
• Select the cells to be impacted....your SUM formula cells
• Home.Format.Cell_formatting...Number_tab
...Category: Custom
...Type: [h]:mm
Click: OK
The square brackets around the "h" force Excel to keep displaying in hours.

Does that help?
