Troubleshooting:64 bit windows 7 backup problem Error

64 bit windows 7 backup problem

Several posts seem to be experiencing 64 bit windows 7 backup not completing.
My windows backup of drive C appears to complete but then I get an error message saying it didn't complete properly! Examining the backup file stored on my external drive reveals
a hefty 20 Gb backup file is stored and I was able to use it to restore drive C but can't be sure it's 100% ok even though no problem has so far occured.
May be the error message is simply wrong, who knows?
Anyway Paragon Backup and Restore is now free to use and pruduces a Backup file half the size of any Windows Backup without any similar problems.
So I suggest using Paragon is a far better option than the unwieldy error prone Windows tripe.
Paragon
backups also take up only half the disc space ! Is my view contentious or have others also decided using Windows Backup is not very clever!

Thanks for confirming Windows Backup is flawed Raymond J.
Just moved to 64 bit Windows 7 from Vista.
A bit faster but the OS sure takes up a lot more disc space! I prefer an image file Backup to restore from, so the OS is restored back to a time when majority
of tedious updates aren't too outdated and the PC runs like new.
System Restore again I don't altogether trust so I disable it.
Like to keep the C drive lean and keen so keep my files on a seperate partition.
So C drive image Backup gets my priority and my
personal partition can be backed-up by copying files directly or by an image to the external hard-drive. Also in XP & Vista found SteadyState invaluable to avoid any changes to C drive that proved problematical.
Pity Microsoft have decided to ditch SteadyState
!

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.

  • Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
  • Click on Boot Tab
  • Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
  • Select Network.
  • Click Apply and OK.
  • Reboot your System.
