Windows 7 Home 64 bit keeps crashing [Solved]

Windows 7 Home 64 bit keeps crashing

Hello,

I've had this problem since I bought the computer in January.
Windows randomly keeps freezing forcing me to manually restart (sometimes it will restart itself if left long enough).
I've took it back the shop I bought it from who said there is no issue with
hardware (I've also installed Ubuntu which doesn't crash).
Freezing seems to happen more when I'm on iTunes or a game called Europa Universalis 3 but it can happen at any time (email, internet, etc), it's happened 3 times already today, once when I restarted
from a crash, walked away & came back to a frozen desktop.

I have tried reinstalling Win 7 but even then it would crash right from the start (before I installed anything).
I've tried updating my drivers but admittedly I'm not really sure what am doing.
I've also tried recording dump files but nothing gets recorded
(I've installed a program called WhoCrashed which says dump files are enabled but no valid crash dumps have been found).

I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks

Hi,

You need to take it back and have the System Maker correct the issues since as OEM they

are responsible for both the proper operation of the hardware and Windows.
Windows probably

is stressing the system more than Ubuntu however that does not mean that Windows in the
cause of these issues.
If it was there would be millions with similar problems.
It is most likely

the hardware.

Since you have re-installed Windows that indicated hardware caused issues.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can check to be sure the settings are correct for minidumps to be created.
Minidumps
are not usually very useful for troubleshooting hardware issues however if they are set properly

and not created that also points even more to hardware.

Also do this so you can see the likely bluescreens if any.
Windows Vista automatically restarts if your PC encounters an error that causes it to crash.

-------------

MyEventViewer can be checked at the time of the BlueScreen (BSOD) to within a second or
so of the time of the BSOD to provide more information as to possible cause - see TIP.
MyEventViewer - Free - a simple alternative to the standard event viewer of Windows.
TIP - Options - Advanced Filter allows you to see a time frame instead of the whole file -
set it to a bit before and after the time of the BSOD.

------------
AppCrashView - Free - a small utility for Windows Vista and Windows 7 that displays the
details of all application crashes occurred in your system.
The crashes information is extracted
from the .wer files created by the Windows Error Reporting (WER) component of the operating
system every time that a crash is occurred.
AppCrashView also allows you to easily save the
crashes list to text/csv/html/xml file.
