bottom of text box overlaps footer
I added a text box to my word doc and chose "tight" layout option and "right" alignment to "margin" and unchecked "overlap".
the problem is that as i add text above, when the textbox is near the bottom of the page, the bottom of the text box will overlap
the footer all the way to the bottom of the page before it finally jumps to the top of the next page.
how do i make the text box move to the next page before it overlaps the footer.
the solution must allow for text to be added above to allow for editing and
revising so it works automatically.

I'm sorry you don't like our answers.
That is your opinion, based on your experience and you are welcome to it.
But, pPlease keep in mind the most of us providing these answers are NOT paid by MS.
We just have too much time on our hands.
When you say that ms "Word Help instructs user ..." you are just "drinking the coolaid".
MS also says that the Master/Sub document feature works.
And I haven't seen any generally published notification of the known fact that there is a BUG in 2010 where
XML is malformed when you combine 2010 DOCX with pictures and Equations.
There are several discussions in these forums with hundreds of comments and several THOUSAND views.
This "bug" is not conjecture, it is independly repeatable by hundreds of users.
But
MS has not acknowledged it.
So, when we suggest work-arounds it is because we have had similar experiences to the problems under discussion and found ways to word around them.
We have "beat word into submission", to get it to do what we need.
Text boxes are a feature that was introduced long ago to address certain issues long ago.
Since then, other features, such as tables were introduced.
The newer features tend to be more sophisticated, reflecting the era they were introduced..
As for "join the enlightened tech writing community and dump word", that is probably a reasonable response to the situation. Word is at the core designed for basic business word processing.
Advanced page layout, specialized document control are all beyond
it's basic design.
Since the early days, MS has been bolting on various additional functionality to try and make it "everything for everyone".
Sometimes it was succesful, like with Tables, sometimes it is less successful, like the Equation Editor.
Your satisfaction, or disatisfaction with Word is not "our" (responders on the forum) first concern.
We are independent "Fans" of Office or Windoze who have some answers to problems, such as simple lack of experience with the products, that other people
have.
If you are unhappy with a MS product or service (ie MS help files, MS phone "support" of products) tell someone who (in theory) cares (but probably isn't really listening because they already have your money) :
