Windows 7 Explorer Crashes When Cutting & Pasting Shortcuts
When cutting a desktop internet Firefox shortcut and pasting it into an open windows explorer window, the action causes explorer.exe to crash.
This does not happen when you drag & drop.
Disabling shell extensions using ShellExView produced no results.
This occurs in Windows 7 Ultimate.
This does not happen in Vista Ultimate.
[I have multi-boot]
Any ideas?

· Are you able to copy other files or documents and paste on Windows Explorer apart from shortcuts?
· Were you able to do this before without any issues?
There might some infections on the computer, try running a malware and virus scan on the computer and check.

This might be an issue if any of the system files are corrupted, running System File Checker [SFC] scan might help you to get rid of this error message at the startup.
SFC scan replaces the corrupted system files with the original version of Windows files
on the computer.
1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue
3. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow
When the scan is complete, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved.

If the issue still persists, I would suggets that you try with a new user account and check if you are able to copy and paste on Windows Explorer

If its working fine in new user account then there might be an issue with the user profile, you may follow the steps and fix the corrupted user profile

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.
- Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
- Click on Boot Tab
- Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
- Select Network.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Reboot your System.
