Another wireless problem: Gateway laptop, Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
I was using my wireless last night just fine - I woke up this morning, and now in my system tray it just shows the bars with a big red X over them.
I flip the switch on the front of my computer, and it doesn't affect the computer at all, but it does make my wireless light go on and off.
clicking on the system tray says "not connected," "no connections are available," and troubleshoot.
When I trouble shoot it tells me I need to reset my router ...
which is not true - the internet works fine on my itouch as well as another laptop and both of our home computers.
when I go to the adapter settings ( control panel > network and internet > network connections)
I see the Wireless network connection is enabled, says "not connected" ...
and has a big red X next to the picture.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the device, it currently has the most updated drivers.
It also says it is working properly.
when I diagnose it - it says that windows cannot help me at this time.
wonderful.
So - it's like it's there and it works, windows just isn't letting it look for any wireless signals because it thinks it's broken???
I went from using it last night, bringing my pc to bed with me (don't laugh ..
it's so I can watch movies!) where there is no internet signal (so it couldn't have downloaded anything in my sleep) to it doing this in the morning when I brought it back
from sleep.
any ideas? I really don't want to re-install windows, even though I know that would fix it because it did this one time before.
the wired connection is working just fine.
